Project

Midstad Essen

The registered historic façade on Kettwiger Strasse is a true eye-catcher. This is where the former Weltstadthaus will become the new Midstad property. Originally built in the 1920s, the building was renovated at the end of the 1980s. It is situated in the most central part of the Ruhr region. To the east, it is directly on the popular shopping street Kettwiger Strasse. It borders Kennedyplatz to the west and Kurienplatz to the south. In the course of the revitalisation, a combined retail and office concept is being created in which the previous retail floors are being converted into modern office space. A modern atrium creates optimum lighting in all areas and meets all requirements, from combined to individual offices. The central building technology will be modernised so that the building can meet future energy-saving targets. For the planned remodelling work, the aim is to achieve BREEAM certification for the existing building with an excellence rating of "very good".
