Midstad Mannheim

A compact re-development of the former Mannheim Weltstadthaus, designed by the New York star architect Richard Meier. The newly designed multi-use building combines shopping and working under one roof. The lower floors will continue to be managed by Peek & Cloppenburg B.V. & Co. KG, Düsseldorf.* The new office space on the upper floors was handed over to the company Alex & Gross at the end of July 2023. In August 2023, the Mannheim-based sales specialist with 300 employees moved into the 6,500 m2 office space, which extends from the second to the fourth floor of the building. The integration of an atrium inside the building provides plenty of natural light. An outdoor area for the exclusive use of employees was also created in the inner courtyard, which serves as a place to meet and greet. Environmentally friendly building materials were used in the remodelling of the property, and dismantled materials were recycled. For example, the natural stone of the former façade was reused inside the building. A photovoltaic system has been installed on the roof. BREEAM certification for existing properties is being sought for the project.

* There are two independent Peek & Cloppenburg companies with headquarters in Düsseldorf and Hamburg. This information relates to Peek & Cloppenburg B.V. & Co. KG, Düsseldorf, the building locations of which can be found at
